FINE FURNITURE GUILD
Jean-Philippe Clark
When it comes to my furniture and how I design, I set my foundation on function. ‘All beauty rests on utility’ is a Shaker edict I follow when putting a piece together. My goal is for purpose to be obvious and a baseline to build onto. I find the particular wonder of a piece can come from just a table, elevated by little details that help the story. I build my furniture to be generational, something you can rely on and pass down. I want you to walk up to it and not be afraid to open a drawer. I also want my furniture to bring joy to the user, whether it is just a chair to rest on or a cabinet with a view. The act of making is something that I do because I love it, and I hope that is passed along in the final outcome.
